Set high in Mitchell Park estate with views to rolling green hills beyond, Stuart and Danielle’s family home offers just the right balance of work-from-home, rest and play.

Stuart and Danielle loved Peter Bowen Homes’ Fairfield design, but wanted to make some minor changes to deliver a home that perfectly suited their young family’s lifestyle.

“We looked at a few builders, but the benefit of PBH was they had the base plan we liked, but were open to customising,” Stuart says. “Some other builders were just cookie-cutter. If you didn’t fit in (with their existing plans) they weren’t willing to change, or they made it difficult to customise and charged a lot more for it.”

By contrast, Stuart says the PBH team was more than happy to work with them to incorporate exactly what they wanted, offering expert guidance and constant communication along the way.

“I’d be changing things and Darryl (sales consultant) would take my rough drawings to the design team and they’d happily modify the plan. And if what I suggested wasn’t going to work they didn’t just say ‘you’re wrong’, they’d explain why and come back with an alternative solution.”

Stuart and Danielle increased the size of the bedrooms and alfresco area, and installed an almost floor-to-ceiling window in their bathroom for uninterrupted garden views.

The home’s L shape design allowed for another must-have: a wing for the kids and a wing for mum and dad. And with three living areas there’s plenty of space for everyone to enjoy.

Stuart works from home, so a designated home office that felt separate from everyday life was also essential.

But the space that has brought the family the most joy is their large alfresco area, where the family spends warm afternoons together playing in the backyard, enjoying the bush views - and one day hopefully splashing about in a pool.

By taking a floor plan they loved and customising it to suit their exact needs, Stuart and Danielle have built a home their young family won’t outgrow.

“It’s not a stepping-stone house, this is a house we can stay in,” Stuart says. “And because it’s built to such a high quality we don’t have to worry about it falling down in ten years, or getting a crack in a wall. Peter Bowen Homes has gone to a lot of effort to consider the finer details and make sure it’s finished well.”

Stuart describes the experience of building with Peter Bowen Homes as “fabulous”.

“All the trades, everyone who worked on our home, were just as professional as PBH. It shows they pick good trades to work with. We would definitely build with them again.”
